Biotechnology Research Internship:

RM Global is seeking a Biotechnology Research Intern to work in its New York office, potentially lead toward a full time Biotech Research Associate. The Biotechnology Research Intern is responsible for fundamental scientific research on drugs across a wide range of diseases to support RM Global’s life science focused strategic advisory and investment banking business. This involves analyzing and interpreting complex medical, scientific and technical data to produce compelling written deliverables and presentations. This position will have direct interaction with organization leaders in both content development and review functions. The Biotechnology Research Intern will have a unique opportunity to gain experience in investment research and analysis as well as operational exposure to advancing drug development programs for RM Global’s clients located in globally.

The Role

The Biotechnology Research Intern will be a critically important player and will work directly with a Partner/Managing Director level leadership. Specifically, the workstreams that the Biotechnology Research Intern would be responsible for are:

  • Collect and analyze data related to therapeutics and various diseases, including databases, company websites, non-confidential/confidential slide decks and scientific papers outlining both preclinical and clinical data
  • Analyze and interpret pre-clinical and clinical data and scientific literature for drugs under development and current standard of care
  • Assess disease profiles and market potential; construct bottom up financial projections
  • Analyze a product’s chances for clinical and regulatory success, identifying potential setbacks
  • Work with investment banking team in switching between periods of due diligence, financial modeling
  • Work remotely, report to our New York office for occasional internal meetings

Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess proven scientific and communication skills:

  • PhD candidates or post-doctoral fellows in the life sciences
  • Familiarity and knowledge of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries including clinical development, regulatory affairs, business development and commercialization
  • Ability to evaluate therapeutic approaches across a wide range of disease areas
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to express ideas cogently in writing
  • A self-starter who can take responsibility for diligence projects with little oversight required
  • Team player with collegial attitude and the ability and willingness to learn
  • Excel Modelling skills a plus

Term

The term of the role is 6 months with an option to extend additional 6 months contingent on performance evaluation.
